Thirteen-year-old Emma Trotman was on top form setting four meet records and taking home five gold medals. She stormed ahead in the 100m individual medley with clear water between her and her rival – and finished some three seconds ahead to take gold.
Scores of swimmers set personal bests (PBs), including Zita Edwards, 12, who swam PBs and took gold medals in all of her events – the 50m butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke and 100m individual medley.
Taking the remaining gold medals in the 12-year-old age group was Rhian Johnson, placed first in the 50m and 100m freestyle and bronze in the 200m freestyle. Ellie Fletcher also swam a fantastic 50m butterfly race in 33.23s to take a silver medal, while Lily Parker smashed her best time in the 100m freestyle to take bronze in the event.
The younger girls swam extremely well and had a very successful day taking the top three spots across the events.
Leading the way for the boys was 10-year-old William Whitlock who secured gold in the 50m backstroke, silver in 50m freestyle, set a PB in his 50m breaststroke and took bronze, along with two other bronze medals.
Meanwhile Alex Barker, who recently turned 13, took the top three spots against much older swimmers and swam a PB in the 100m individual medley to gain silver.
At an earlier swim meet at Pavilions In The Park in Horsham William picked up a South East regional time and the gold medal for his 200m butterfly. While talented Georgia Bennetts, 10, proved her flare for butterfly fighting off a last minute challenge to secure first place in her first ever 200m event.
